Vice President Saulos Chilima, who is also the leader of the UTM party, has urged the current government under President Chakwera to explore alternative ways to alleviate the challenges faced by many Malawians due to the current economic hardships and poverty in the country.
Chilima specifically requested the government to consider reducing the taxes imposed on farming activities.
Furthermore, he proposed initiatives such as Trido pumps and solar water pumps to assist people in accessing different farming methods that can help alleviate the burden on subsistence farmers. Chilima also urged the government to exempt taxes on motorcycle ambulances to facilitate their entry into the country.
These proposals aim to improve the agricultural sector and provide relief to the people of Malawi.
