Vice President Saulos Chilima appeared at the High Court in Lilongwe where Judge Redson Kapindu is praised for submitting a request for more evidence in a case he is involved in.
In the case, Chilima also wants to be given documents related to MDF's payment to President Lazarus Chakwera's office in March 2021 to seek clarity on whether the military should buy military vehicles from the Malachite FZE company owned by Zuneth Sattar.
Initially, the MDF refused to submit the documents to the ACB, saying it could jeopardize the country's security.
In their first petition, Chilima's lawyers said the needed documents would ensure that those involved in the case are treated fairly.
The ACB arrested Dr. Chilima in November 2022 suspecting that he had received illicit funds from Sattar without clarification on how these funds were used to help Sattar's companies secure government contracts.
