President Peter Mutharika from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Malawi gave food packages to 300 Muslim families in Chisigele Village. They are fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
Mutharika promised he will run for President again in 2025 to help the country's economy. He said Malawians regret choosing the Tonse Alliance led by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and that he will win the elections.
He assured the people that he will keep supporting them and wants to take the country away from corrupt leaders.
Mutharika plans to help more Muslims in Balaka and Machinga districts during Ramadan.
At the event, DPP's Imran Mtenje urged Mutharika to return to power as he believes the current leader, Lazarus Chakwera, is not doing a good job.
Former First Lady Gertrude Mutharika and other leaders were also present.
