The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was set to hold a memorial service for their late founder, Bingu Wa Mutharika, this Friday at Ndata Farm in Thyolo district.
However, a press statement signed by DPP’s Presidential and Party Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba announced that the ceremony has been postponed to a later date.
The decision to delay the service was made due to the recent passing of a family member of the late Mutharika. The new date for the memorial will be shared soon.
The DPP offered condolences to party president Arthur Peter Mutharika and the Masamba family on the loss of Mrs. Masamba.
Bingu Wa Mutharika passed away from a heart attack on April 5, 2012, at the age of 78 during his second term in office.
