"Former MEC Chair Jane Ansah Set to Run for MP Seat"

It seems like Jane Ansah, the former Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), is preparing to contest for a Member of Parliament seat in the 2025 election on a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket. Despite facing accusations of rigging the 2019 election in favor of the DPP, Ansah has reportedly begun campaigning in a constituency in Ntcheu district, her hometown.

Sources suggest that Ansah is actively engaged in campaigning, albeit not on a large scale, and is likely to win the primary elections of the DPP. Additionally, there are reports of DPP party members in the district wearing party regalia with Ansah's name on it, indicating support for her candidacy. Videos have also surfaced showing young people campaigning for Ansah at DPP rallies.

Despite facing protests following the nullification of the 2019 polls, Ansah has consistently denied allegations of election rigging. After stepping down from her position at the MEC, Ansah briefly left the country for the UK but has reportedly returned to Malawi to campaign for the parliamentary seat.

It will be interesting to see how Ansah's candidacy unfolds amid the backdrop of past controversies and public scrutiny.
