Vice President Saulos Chilima joined other church members at St. Patrick's Parish in Lilongwe for the Good Friday Way of the Cross. This is a traditional Catholic ceremony that remembers the events before Jesus Christ was crucified. The Way of the Cross has 14 stations that show what happened when Jesus carried his cross.
Chilima, who goes to this church, took part in the rituals. They included walking through each station, saying prayers, and readings. After this, there was a Mass to honor Christ's death and why his sacrifice is important.
During the Mass, Chilima talked about how the Way of the Cross is crucial. He said it shows that Jesus' death was not just sad, but necessary for our sins to be forgiven. He also said it's important for Christians to think about forgiveness, love, and making peace.
Chilima said, "Let's think about our lives as we go through the Way of the Cross. Are we living like Christ taught us to? Remember, because of his death, heaven is open to all of us."
Chilima joining the Good Friday ceremonies showed his strong faith. His words encouraged everyone in Malawi to follow the Catholic values.
Later, Chilima attended the Easter vigil service with other church members on Holy Saturday. They started in the dark and ended by lighting the Easter candle. This symbolizes Christ coming back to life.
Many people saw Chilima at the Easter vigil as a sign of hope and renewal in the Catholic faith. His presence reminded everyone about how faith and prayer are important.
Chilima's dedication to his faith was clear during the Easter weekend. By getting involved in the church events, he showed his strong beliefs and the will to share them with others.
His actions inspire hope and courage in Malawi's Catholic community. His message of forgiving and loving others will stay with people throughout the year.
