The President of this country, Lazarus Chakwera, has postponed his trip to visit people affected by the flooding in Nkhotakota district, saying that the road conditions are not good in the area.
The government spokesperson, Wongani Mkandawire, confirmed the news by saying that there is a heavy rainfall warning for tomorrow.
According to Mkandawire, Chakwera is expected to visit the district today.
The rain started last night and by this morning it had already reached 75.7mm in the Nkhunga area in the south.
Mr. Mkandawire said people should be careful on the roads as Chakwera will be passing through areas affected by floods.
The overflowing water has affected over 11,000 people, with more than 6,000 still in need of assistance.
