"Malawi Government Appoints Baldwin Samuel Chiyamwaka as Secretary for Information and Digitalization"

President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Baldwin Samuel Chiyamwaka as the new Secretary for Information and Digitalization in Malawi, as announced by the Malawi Government.

Chiyamwaka is a well-qualified individual with a background in communications, international development, human rights, education, and research. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously worked as a Communications Specialist at World Vision International, a journalist and editor at the Malawi News Agency (MANA), and as the Executive Director of the Media Council of Malawi.

Over his 20-year career in the non-governmental sector, Chiyamwaka has held various leadership positions, including Deputy Country Director for VSO International, Head of the Malawi Country Office at Hivos Foundation, and Regional Programme Manager for the Open Society Programme in Southern Africa. He has also served as a Technical Advisor at UNICEF Malawi and as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Security Studies.

Chiyamwaka's leadership abilities are evident through his roles as Commissioner for the Malawi Human Rights Commission, where he chaired important committees such as Civil and Political Rights and Access to Information. He has further contributed to various boards, including Farm Radio Trust, Foundation For Community and Capacity Development, Baobab Health Trust, and the Public Relations Society of Malawi.

Currently, Chiyamwaka serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Public Relations Society of Malawi (PRSM).
